The Point Township Police Department was officially organized in 1953. Through the years, the department slowly grew in size, but often had 'open' shifts with no officer on duty. In 2000, the department was operating with 5 full-time police officers and began "24/7" services. In 2018, the department added a sixth full time police officer.
The mission of the Point Township Police Department is to safeguard persons and property through a community partnership by upholding public trust, fostering mutual respect and providing services to enhance quality of life. The agency strives to provide leadership to promote individual responsibility and a commitment to improving the community’s quality of life through crime control and public safety while serving all people with fairness and respect.
